THE HISTORY OF NOH NOH originated in the 14th century as a form of entertainment at religious festivals. NOH is a classical Japanese performance which combines the elements of dance, drama, music and poetry into on highly aesthetic stage art.
There are five categories of NOH plays. Gods, warriors, beautiful women, miscellaneous figures and supernatural beings are of these categories which the art is passed through generations, mainly performed by men.
